Rustic former mining lodge in a great location only 2 blocks from Elk Avenue, AKA Main Street. Imagine you worked all day in a mine or biked/hiked all day and came home dog tired. You don't expect much but a clean bed and a shower. Breakfast is decent, but again somewhat basic. If you want luxury you will surely wonder how I could ever give 4 stars, but if you have hiked from Aspen to CB and come here exhausted you will appreciate that this is a decent, honest place to stay in a classic CO mountain town. Antithesis of the Four Seasons! But in this town it works.

Warm, helpful front woman. Soft mattress, a little too soft - you will meet your partner in the middle... all night long. Nice room, clean. The complimentary breakfast good enough to get you ready for a full day ahead. Nice, short walk to downtown. Walls paper thin.

We love the main areas of this lodge in Crested Butte. We also love that they let you take their bikes around town. The porch is a great place to eat your included breakfast. Very simple rooms and showers that are decent. We love the location as we can just walk to restaurants. Great place to come back to after a long hike.

I just went there with about 20 girlfriends for a 40ish bday bash. The folks here were so accommodating. This is a really cozy B&B with lots of lounging areas and nooks. A hot tub, outdoor seating, living room area with fireplace, etc etc. They have books and games, and were helpful it telling us where to eat, where to hike, etc. Breakfast was great! Rooms are very simple and not fancy but have everything you need.

My boyfriend and I loved staying here! We stayed in a 3rd floor Queen and the room was very cozy and comfortable (we had a balcony with a tremendous view of the mountains) and the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in (down comforter and pillows were a huge plus). The common areas in the lodge were very nice and cozy as well. There's a piano for guests to play, board games, and a very nice indoor hot tub. We enjoyed the included breakfast; there was coffee, fresh OJ, fruit, granola and yogurt, toast and bagels, and then different hot foods each day (day 1 there was scrambled eggs, and the 2nd day we had blueberry pancakes and sausage). The staff here were very friendly and accomodating, and had a lot of knowledge to share about things to do in town. All in all, we had a wonderful time in Crested Butte and thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Elk Mountain Lodge. It was a fun, relaxing weekend, and Crested Butte might just be one of the prettiest towns in Colorado. We will definitely be back!!

We are almost at 8,900 feet above sea level in the Rockies. And I felt it taking our luggage to our room on the second floor! Nice B&B, located a few blocks from downtown and its many restaurants. Nice breakfast the next morning

Great B&B. Comfy beds with a rustic, historic feel. It really felt as if you're staying someone's cozy home and took the upstairs bedroom. The large living room on the main floor provided a cozy fireplace, plenty of room for at least 20 guests to eat breakfast (that is included in your stay), an old piano, and some board games for the big snow days. Also, it's only a block or two from Elk ave (main st). I can't wait to come visit again!

Don't get me wrong, it was clean and it was a fine place to stay, just nothing special. For $200 a night, and I know CB is pricey, there could be some nice touches, but there really weren't any. At least when it comes to the room and b'fast. Definitely more like a motel than a B&B. A breakfast was included but is nothing like you see on their website, and what I expected. It was not a great breakfast, but did fill the hole. It is a great location and they do lend you bikes. That's cool.

We had a wonderful stay at Elk Mountain Lodge and I'm happy to say that this was my first B&B. After attempting to book a stay at a motel to no avail EML was recommended to us. We were so happy to find out that the lodge is extremely close to Elk Avenue (main drag) at a reasonable price. I especially loved that they had bicycles available for their guests at no charge. Yay! EML is super cozy with rustic design. They also have a hot tub. The compounds are very safe as a code is needed to enter at night. The place is clean and comfy. The breakfast in the morning was good, not exceptional, but good. We did think that they could have offered more in addition to what they had out. They did have a good selection, i.e.: yogurt and cereal, toast, and pancakes with sausage but what about other breakfast favorites? I also agree with one other post on Yelp that the beds need to be updated. Ours too had a hole in the middle and I kept tying to stay on my side of the bed but luckily my husband didn't mind. Pillows were too soft also - they should offer some hard pillows for those guests who HATE soft, fluffy, feathery ones. Regardless, we will be back because our stay was wonderful and the staff was just as nice .

Classic old hotel in a classic old town. Rooms are comfortable, bar is open, breakfast is included. Very pleasant staff. Highly recommended if you're visiting Crested Butte!!

I stayed here a few nights in an early November when the snow was already piled high, but before Elk Mountain Lodge became an overpriced low budget B&B. Everything was clean in a basic mountain bum way. It was not about creature comforts, but a place out of the storm, with cranky heat, hot shower down the hall, and church mouse quiet unless you had unruly neighbors. I quickly found other more accommodating places to stay that were just a little warmer, cozier, tastier, cheaper and more romantic than The Elk. Still, if a worthy place to rest your wearies was your priority, this old miners' flop house was quite good enough.
